Special point suspended between the past and present and, guidance center for local and foreign people. Favorite place for student huddle. The Coconut Corner is something like flesh and blood of the ibarreñidad, the palm tree stands proud as a monument over the city.
It was the benchmark used by the ex-President, Gabriel García Moreno, to draw the plan of the city after the earthquake that completely destroyed it. The palm tree that stays today belonged to the property of Gomez de la Torre family. It is located at the intersection of Sucre and Oviedo streets.
