The forest takes that name from the presence of a shrub species called pisidium guineense (guayabilla) whose fruit has a pleasant flavor.
It´s a protective forest of 54 hectares that is physically linked to the built-up urban area. Its bush richness favors the presence of several species of birds, small reptiles, insects and some mammals. Since Guayabillas protected forest you can see the entire city of Ibarra.
