Space with tourist services
The traditional plaza Francisco Calderón have had several uses; according the history in 1718 it was the Martyrdom Plaza, where murderers, criminals, and revolutionaries were executed until 1868, date of the Ibarra earthquake where it was completely destroyed.
In 1964 it was used as the main market of the city, until the construction of the Amazonas Market. Later, it was used as an open Coliseum for intercollegiate sports championships and since 1996 it has become a center for artistic, cultural and craft programs, which is why it is well known as the Plazoleta de la Ibarreñidad.
