The repetitive eruption of andesitic and dacitic lavas through the flank openings and marginally from the summit of Imbabura volcano, have given rise to the current north hill or "Artezón", this building also suffered a collapse of its southwest flank, covering part of the area around San Pablo lake.
The Artezón hill is located to the northeast of the main
the main building (Imbabura) and south of the city of Ibarra.
