It is a lagoon of glacial origin, located in the Cerro Cubilche at 3,787 m.a.s.l. hight; it is part of the Imbabura volcanic complex and was used for rituals due its circular shape.
The temperature of the lake is 10°C. and it has a surface of 1.45 hectares and 0.44 km. of perimeter. Its waters are transparent and the shores are surrounded by extensive grasslands.
