Located in the parish of Lita in the canton of Ibarra, the river originates in the parish of Buenos Aires in the canton of Urcuquí and runs south-north through the Mira River Basin. This river is between 8 and 10m wide and its banks have abundant natural vegetation, forests and crops. Along its course, fords are formed where locals come to swim and recreate in its waters as well as fish for sport fishing.
To enter the river, precautions should be taken and avoid entering when the flow is very strong or when there is rain in the area. Admission is open to people who know how to swim.
